LA Ink is a reality show on TLC that follows the events of High Voltage Tattoo, a tattoo studio in Los Angeles, California. It is a spin-off of TLC’s Miami Ink and it premiered on August 7, 2007.
The shop is owned by tattoo artist Kat Von D, who formerly starred on Miami Ink. In 2007, after a falling out with Miami Ink owner Ami James, Kat left the show and returned to Los Angeles, where she opened High Voltage Tattoo and was offered a spin-off show. Artists Corey Miller, Hannah Aitchison, Kim Saigh, and Kat’s best friend Pixie Acia who managed the shop are all featured on LA Ink.
